Metal Complexes of Amino Acids. V. μ-Aminocarboxylato Bi- and Tri-nuclear Complexes of Cobalt(III)

Abstract
Some new binuclear and trinuclear complexes containing μ-aminocarboxylato ligands, [(NH3)5Co(OCORNH2)Co NO2(acac)2](ClO4)2 (R=CH2, (CH2)2, and CH(CH3) for glycinato, β- and Dl-alaninato ligands) and [en2Co{(OCORNH2)Co NO2(acac)2}2]ClO4 (R=CH2 and (CH2)2), have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, visible and ultraviolet absorption, infrared, and PMR spectra. It was concluded that the NH2 end of the μ-aminocarboxylato bridge occupies a coordination position trans to the NO2ligand, and the COO ends of two μ-aminocarboxylato bridges in the trinuclear complex occupy positions trans to each other.
