Abstract
Dimuon distributions from the production of heavy particles in - and -induced reactions are obtained within the framework of the quark-parton model. General qualitative features independent of the model are pointed out. Available data are consistent with the production of at least one particle, of mass 1.8 GeV/, in -induced reactions, with ordinary () currents, and perhaps one more heavier particle, of mass around 3.5 GeV/ to 4.5 GeV/, with () currents, in -induced reactions. Methods for determining production probability functions from dimuon distributions are pointed out.
