Abstract
Apparent free histidine of blood plasma and urine was measured in 15 patients with rheumatoid arthritis before and during treatment with adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) or 17-hydroxy-11-dehydrocorticosterone (Cortisone). During treatment with either of these hormones, there was a striking increase in urinary excretion of apparent free histidine. Plasma levels were not significantly altered during the avg. treatment period, but the maximum value reached during treatment showed a significant increase when compared with the highest control values. Keywords
