Abstract
A synthetic pheromone component of the California red scale, Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), (3Z,6R)-3-methyl-6-isopropenyl-3,9-decadien-1-yl acetate, dispensed from rubber septa showed no loss of attractancy in bioassays over a 16-week period with original doses of 10-, 100-, and 1000-μg/septa whether maintained in the shade or direct sun. Only the one- μg dose in direct sun showed loss of attractancy while the one-μg dose in the shade did not. Ten- and 100-μg charged septa held constantly at 43°C showed only slight loss of attraction while the 1000-μg septa showed no loss in 6 weeks. When held at 54°C, the 10- and 100-μg charged septa showed ca. 25% loss while the 1000-μg septa showed little or no loss of attractancy. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
