Abstract
The marine flora on the coasts of 6 islands in the Ionian Sea (Kerkyra, Lefkas, Ithaki, Kefallinia, Zakynthos, Paxi) was studied to a depth of 4 m. In total 21 biotopes were selected and 168 marine algae and phanerogams were systematically identified. These are classified as follows: 30 Chlorophyceae, 39 Phaeophyceae [P], 94 Rhodophyceae [R], 2 Cyanophyceae and 3 marine phanerogams. A ratio R/P = 2.6 was found, smaller than that of the Greek west coasts (R/P = 2.86), and the vegetation is certainly more boreal than subtropical. Phaeophyceae is more prevalent than Chlorophyceae and Rhodophyceae. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
