Electrochemical Detection of PBN Spin Adduct Aminoxyls (Nitroxides) Separated by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
Spin adduct aminoxyls (nitroxides) produced from the reaction of shortlived radicals with α-phenyl-tert-butyl nitrone (PBN) could be separated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and analyzed by both UV and electrochemical detectors. Peak assignments of the spin adduct aminoxyls were confirmed by collecting peak effluents and analyzing by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. Mixtures of aminoxyl spin adducts that were unresolvable by ESR methods were separated by HPLC and their individual ESR spectra recorded.
