Abstract
A new modality for transcutaneous measurement of blood flow is described. Two ultrasonic pulsed Doppler techniques (Doppler imaging and average Doppler shift detection) are combined to measure net flow across an arbitrary sample plane. This estimate of volume flow is independent of lumen shape, orientation, and velocity profile. Keywords
