Abstract
[a]. When 2 simple lysins (saponin, digitonin, Na taurocholate, Na glycocholate, or Na oleate) act together in a system, the total activity is rarely the same as the sum of the 2 individual hemolytic activities. Probably the lysins interact with each other, mutually enhancing or inhibiting each other''s lytic activity.[long dash][b]. The previous conclusion that it is permissible to treat the inhibition as a reaction between lysin and plasma-protein, by means of which the lysin is removed from the system, is confirmed. The quantity of lysin so removed depends on the no. of cells present in the system. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
