Abstract
The nature causes, and performance consequences of simplicity in competitive repertoires are investigated. Good performance was shown to induce managers to focus more on a shrinking set of actions. Environmental homogeneity and munificence had a similar effect. Although simplicity had advantages, when taken to extremes it appeared to hurt performance. Keywords
