Abstract
It is shown by numerical calculation that a two-surface-layer model of hydrogen absorption on niobium recently proposed by Lagos, Martinez, and Schuller [Phys. Rev. B. 29, 5979 (1984)] does not adequately describe the existing experimental data. The deductions of these authors from the model concerning kinetic decoupling of the surface and the bulk processes are shown to be incorrect. Keywords
