Evaluation of Coupled Supercritical Fluid Extraction-Cryogenic Collection-Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFE-CC-SFC) for Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis

Abstract
An on-line supercritical fluid extraction-cryogenic collection-supercritical fluid chromatographic system (SFE-CC-SFC) is constructed to provide efficient extraction and separation with quantitative results. Extracted material is depressurized through a 50- or 25-µm i.d. restrictor into a cooled cryogenic trap. After the extracted material is collected, valves are switched and collected materials are flushed back into the packed-column SFC. Calibration curves from the quantitation of different hydrocarbon standards show results with good reproducibility. The system is also evaluated for analysis of stabilizers in single-base propellants and different polymer formulations.
