Abstract
The investigation was conducted in 2 parts, studies 1 and 2, which were separated by a 6-mo. interval. In study 1, plaque was collected as 2 consecutive lateral samples from the left and right sides of the dentition. In study 2, 2 samples were collected on a cross-quadrant basis, the upper left quadrant being combined with the lower right quadrant and the upper right with the lower left quadrant. Mean Ca, P, carbohydrate and protein concentrations were compared on the samples. Results indicated a good overall comparability of the 2 ''half-mouth'' plaque samples irrespective of which collection technique was employed. Keywords
