Abstract
The dose-area product (DAP) as well as the dose at a reference point are accepted as standard measures for the risk from radiation exposure. A special ionisation chamber (Diameter M4-KDK, PTW) enables both kinds of measurements at the same time. A software for the calculation of organ doses based on conversion factors published by NRPB is presented. It includes automatic acquisition of DAP and entrance dose values. In NRPB-R186 the factors for the conversion of the entrance dose to organ doses are given for different examinations depending on the applied potential and filtration. The results for each calculation is a list of up to 20 organ doses. In addition, the program is able to distinguish between the readings of radioscopy and fluoroscopy. As no detectors have to be fixed on the patient this system is an easy-to-use and fast tool for patient dosimetry in daily diagnostic radiology. Keywords
