Abstract
Recently researchers have speculated that reminiscence functions positively for the elderly. A review of the literature on reminiscence, discloses that (1) the concept of reminiscence and its relationship to other cognitive and affective processes is not clearly delineated in the literature, and (2) findings with regard to reminiscence's adaptive value in later adulthood are inconclusive.
