Malignant Glioma: Coping with a Devastating Illness

Abstract
The diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor can thrust a patient and family onto an emotional roller coaster. This crisis can be better managed with the help of a sensitive interdisciplinary team comprised of nurses, physicians, clinical social workers and other health care professionals. Healthcare personnel can help to provide information, support and coping strategies. Nursing and family support groups enable all involved to survive the personal and professional losses they experience.
