Abstract
We conclude that DIC can occur as a result of sickle cell crisis in the absence of sepsis and we recommend that patients with sickle cell disease, particularly those with hemoglobin SC disease, presenting in crisis should be considered at risk for the development of disseminated intravascular coagulation. With symptomatic treatment and improvement of the crisis, our patient's coagulopathy resolved. Keywords
