Abstract
Stikem®-coated baited and unbaited 7.5-cm-diameter red wooden spheres and yellow panels, 30 cm square, were hung from apple tree branches to determine their effectiveness for attracting Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh) adults and beneficial flies. Addition of ammonium acetate and Sheffield Hy Case 802 protein hydrolysate to red apple-size spheres increased their attractiveness for apple maggot adults in late July but did not from mid- to late-August. Addition of the ammonium acetate-protein hydrolysate bait to red spheres and yellow panels increased their attractiveness for beneficial tachinid flies.
