Abstract
Mutants of S. pombe, defi-cient in alcohol dehydrogenase (Alcohol: NAD oxidoreductase) can specifically be selected with allyl alcohol, which kills the wild type but not mutant cells. The alcohol dehydrogenase of such mutants differs from the corresponding wild type enzyme by its slight affinity for alcohols.Keywords
