Abstract
The free energy and heat content of gaseous hydrogen cyanide are computed from spectroscopic data, and the equilibrium constant for the reaction involving the formation of the gas from its elements is tabulated. The results are in good agreement with the experimental value for the free energy of formation obtained by Lewis and his associates, but are in definite disagreement with the results of Badger. The equilibrium constant for the exchange reaction with deuterium is also tabulated. From the spectroscopic entropy for the gas and the most recent density data, the entropy of liquid hydrogen cyanide is estimated. Keywords
