Abstract
The rate of glass melting depends on the combined influence of the transport of several quantities : heat, momentum, species, and electric charge. The phenomenology of each of these processes obey a similar set of laws and there are a variety of carriers and several modes of transport for each. The transport coefficients are likewise related and depend on the self diffusion coefficients of species, phonons and photons. Thermal conductivity and viscosity of glass forming liquids are discussed from this point of viewKeywords
