Abstract
Dry wts. of bees reared in 4 colonies under field conditions were influenced by colony strength and by fluctuations in the pollen income. Bees reared in the stronger colony were heavier than those in weaker colonies. Peaks in pollen intake corresponded with high dry wts. of bees in all colonies. The number of ovarioles in the ovaries of worker bees reared in these exptl. colonies during the season was not influenced by these factors. There was considerable variation in the number of ovarioles in the ovaries of worker bees reared in the same colony. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
