Abstract
Sodium kemithal, 325 mgm. per kgm., injected intraperitoneally into rats caused a marked depression in the response of normal and denervated striated muscle. The action is believed to be directly on the muscle. Trimethadione produced a sudden marked depression at an intraperitoneal dosage level of 3500 mgm. per kgm. of both normal and denervated muscles. This action would appear to be due to a direct muscular effect. Sodium; diphenylhydantoinate pro duced no significant effect on the gastrocnemius muscle at a dose of 250 mgm. per kgm. by intraperitoneal injection. Keywords
