Abstract
Isolation mechanisms and the basis for taxonomic recognition in the Senecio lautus complex are discussed. Recognition is accorded to the following four Australian subspecies in this complex: alpinus Ali, dissectifolius Ali, maritimus Ali, and lanceolatus (Benth.) Ali. The synonymy and the geographical distribution of these taxa and the related forms are discussed in detail.
