Abstract
Introduction of a spatial amplitude carrier in an object distribution by either absorption, addition, or redistribution of light is discussed. The transfer characteristics of carrier-frequency photography can be influenced by carrier manipulation and variation of the recording parameters. Different portions of the nonlinear transfer characteristic of a recording process are found to be useful for modulated as well as unmodulated carriers. Other possibilities treated are combinations of modulated and unmodulated carriers. It is also shown that images belonging to different diffracted orders in the reconstruction process can be given different image characteristics. Experimental verifications are presented. Keywords
