Abstract
Postoperative therapy for 42 cases of perforated peptic ulcer and 97 cases of perforated appendices is descr. In most instances, large doses of penicillin were given parenterally at short intervals and maintained at a high dosage level for varying periods of time. Low mortality rates for the 2 groups resulted. There was a complete absence of wound suppuration in the ulcer group. These results cannot be attributed directly to the penicillin therapy as there was no control series in the study. Keywords
