Abstract
The follicular-keratogenic properties of several fatty acids were investigated by application in the external ear canal of the rabbit. Laurinic acid and oleic acid induced marked, and caprinic acid moderate inflammation and follicular keratosis. Myristinic, palmitinic and stearinic acid induced no distinct alterations. The histologic picture of the induced alterations is described. Statistical analysis of the values, obtained by quantification of histologic changes (table I) showed significant differences between the individual treatment groups. Keywords
