Abstract
Far-configuration-mixing effects on hyperfine-structure (HFS) off-diagonal elements are computed in Sc I and Ti I using the multiconfigurational Hartree-Fock method. They are about two orders of magnitude larger than the Hartree-Fock values of the pure-configuration off-diagonal elements. Taking them into consideration improves the HFS interpretation in the 3d4s2 configuration of scandium I.Keywords
