Abstract
Summary Movement of labelled assimilates from leaves of one-year-old apple rootstocks treated with 14 CO2 in the autumn was mainly downwards to the root system. 14 Carbonwas detected in all new leaf and shoot growth in the following spring, the level of radioactivity being greatest in the first-formed leaves. Over the winter period there was a reduction in the radioactivity of the root system and old stem, and this was accompanied by a reduction in root dry weight. Keywords
