Abstract
A five-stage centrifugal contactor with 10-inch-diameter stages processed natural or enriched uranium solutions by solvent extraction. High mass transfer efficiencies for uranium were attained at total flow rates of at least 40 and 60 gpm, respectively. The unit had a hydraulic capacity in excess of 60 gpm with undiluted tri-n-butyl phosphate as the solvent, provided the aqueous phase contained at least 3M HNO/sub 3/. (auth)
