Abstract
Ferromagnetic resonance data from thin YIG films are compared with calculated data using the surface layer and tensorial models of surface pinning. The consistency with which the surface layer model explains the resonance phenomena is considered strong evidence that the boundary conditions are provided by surface regions with magnetic properties different than the bulk. Keywords
