Abstract
The effects of pulsed holmium-YSGG laser energy (2.1 μm) on arterial tissue were studied in vitro and in vivo. Delivered through silica optical fibers, the laser ablated calcified and noncalcified tissue in air and saline in a noncontact mode. Early in vivo healing studies in normal canine carotid arteries showed minimal chronic sequelae at 3 weeks. Keywords
