Abstract

The asymmetry parameter

α_{0}

for

Λ^{0} \to n π^{0}

has been measured relative to

α_{-}

by comparing the neutron distribution with the proton distribution from the decay

Λ_{0} \to p π^{-}

for polarized

Λ^{0}

hyperons. A sample of 4760 neutron decay events and 8500 proton decay events gave

\frac{α_{0}}{α_{-}} = 1.000 \pm 0.068

in good agreement with the

| Δ \vec{I} | = \frac{1}{2}

rule.
