Abstract
Two adrenalectomized patients were studied. One was an orchidectomized male with prostatic cancer and the other was a woman with mammary cancer. From 18 to 30% of administered compound E and compound F was excreted in the urine as reducing corticoids. Substance S also caused a pronounced increase. 1.2 to 2% of E, 1.5 to 7.8% of F, and 0.7 to 6.3% of S was converted to 17-ketosteroids. E and F were excreted as 11-ketoetiocholanolone and 11-hydroxyetiocholanolone. S was broken down to etiocholanolone and to a slight extent to androsterone. The 17-ketosteroids were identified by infrared spectrography. Keywords
