Abstract
The structure of 1,6-bis-2-butyltellurophenyl-2,5-diazahexa-1,5-diene (1) reveals a weak tellurium–nitrogen interaction giving the tellurium atom an effective co-ordination number of 3; with HgCl2, (1) forms the complex [HgCl2·(1)] which is monomeric with four-co-ordinate mercury(II) bonded to two chlorine and two tellurium atoms, (1) thus forming a 13-membered chelate ring. Keywords
