Abstract
Inelastic neutron scattering spectra of pure and deuterated lithium hydroxides and of Ca(OH)2, Ca(OD)2, and Mg(OH)2 are presented. These spectra are explained by the interaction of neutrons with lattice vibrations in the scatterers. Special emphasis is given to the part of the spectra which is predominantly influenced by vibrations of the hydrogen layer atoms. Keywords
