Semliki Forest Virus

Abstract
Summary: The Semliki Forest virus has been propagated in developing chick embryos through 33 serial passages. Virus recovered from the final passage was identified by the intraperitoneal protection test. The agent survives and multiplies by logarithmic progression in the embryos until near the time of their death. Inoculated embryos succumb within 11 to 24 hours after inoculation. The titer of virus does not decline appreciably within the first hours after death of the embryos.
