Abstract
We consider two control problems: (a) Maximize the melting in a Stefan problem, given the total heat flux as a control variable; (b) cool the temperature of an endpoint of a rod as much as possible, given the control variable as a certain coefficient in the corresponding parabolic equation. Both problems are solved using the same method. Keywords
