The Spectral Response of Campoletis perdistinctus123

Abstract
Spectral response characteristics of adult ichneumonid wasps, Campoletis perdistinctus (Viereck), were determined by use of 2 different laboratory-response measurement techniques. A group response technique which used a V-shaped test chamber to provide a measure of induced locomotion or phototaxis showed that wavelengths in the green region (≍ 560 nanometers (nm)) and in near-ultraviolet region (≍ 365 nm) were more effective for eliciting responses. A group-response technique which used an ultrasonic motion detector to provide a continuous measure of momentary activity gave no indication of induced activity by near-ultraviolet stimuli but showed wavelengths in the green region (also at ≍ 560 nm) to be quite effective.
