Abstract
A greatly restricted caloric intake increased the longevity of the rat under the exptl. conditions although on a slightly restricted carbo-hydrate diet the increase was not as great as has been shown by others. A restricted caloric intake decreased the number of early deaths. Respiratory infections were not appreciably affected by restricted caloric intake; however, the number of instances of tumors was decreased. Keywords
