Spontaneous occlusion of a carotid‐cavernous shunt

Abstract
The case history of a patient of 60 years, who showed an occlusion of a posttraumatic carotid-cavernous shunt after carotid angiography, is described. The normalization of the cerebral circulation was demonstrated with angiograms and radioencephalograms in the flow area of the carotid arteries. The eeg findings and the possible mechanisms responsible for the occlusion of the shunt are discussed.
