Attitudes and Experiences of Death Workshop Attendees

Abstract
Attendees at workshops and lectures given by Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross were asked to complete a questionnaire which assessed the following: 1) First death experience, 2) Present conceptualization of death, 3) Anticipated reactions to a personal terminal illness, 4) Resources in managing one's own death, and 5) Difficulties experienced in working with dying persons. The 5,274 questionnaires were coded and analyzed. In addition to reporting frequencies of response, this paper reports significant differences according to the age, sex, religious and professional affiliation of the respondants.
