Abstract
A technique by which viable stock cultures of S. ventriculi may be kept for at least 2 months was developed. In this technique the organism is inoculated into a depression in the center of a thick layer of agar medium in an Erlenmeyer flask. The success of the technique depends upon the surface of the medium being thoroughly dry. Under these conditions the organism does not appear to be sensitive to oxygen. A toxic product of metabolism may be the cause of poor viability of fermenting cultures of S. ventriculi. Keywords
