Abstract
Experiments detailed in the following pages refer solely to the so-called passive , the active, hydræmic, chlorotic, and cachectic varieties not being taken into eration. The view usually held at the present day is that the œdema in on results from an obstacle to the return of blood by the veins to the heart, or flow of lymph through the lymphatics, or to both combined; in other words t is of mechanical origin.
