Abstract
Synopsis: 40 Ar/ 39 Ar step heating analysis of an amphibole concentrate from a metagabbro on Tor Beg, north of Inishtrahull and Malin Head in County Donegal, Ireland has yielded an age of about 1710 Ma for a major amphibolite facies metamorphic event. No significant isotopic re-equilibration within Precambrian times subsequent to 1710 Ma is recorded. Subsequent reheating probably reflects a Caledonian event. Keywords
