STUDIES OF KIDNEY FUNCTION

Abstract
The rate of excretion of urea in normal and nephritic subjects was compared with the concentration of urea in the blood, and also with the concentration of urea in the urine, using the 3 formulae of Ambard to express the relationships. The 1st law of Ambard was found to be correct only as a rough approximation. The 2nd law was shown to be completely invalid, confirming the conclusions of earlier investigators (Addis et al.). The 3rd law, a combination of the first 2, fitted the data approximately.
