Abstract
Particle emission from spherical targets uniformly irradiated in the ablative mode with lambda =1.05 mu m laser radiation has been studied using arrays of ion Faraday cups and differential calorimeters. The spherical geometry avoids the problems of angular integration and edge effects that are associated with plane target experiments. Plasma M/Z values and target mass ablation rates are deduced by combining the data from both types of ion detector. Ablation pressures are calculated from these mass ablation rates. Keywords
