Abstract
I propose a method to compute the local density of electronic states in disordered systems. The method makes use of a particular form of the generalized moments of Lambin and Gaspard . It leads to an exact derivation of orthogonalized moments which are simply related to the coefficients of the continued-fraction representation of the density of states. It is numerically stable and analytically equivalent to the recursion method of Haydock. Keywords
