Abstract
Gc grouping was performed on a total of 860 Danish mother-child combinations. 754 pairs were stored serum samples from paternity cases and 106 pairs were fresh serum samples collected during the investigation from newborns, early stage fetuses and the corresponding mothers. The results did not present any exceptions from the simple Mendelian inheritance and indicated a genotypical determination of the Gc group of the child. A Gc group different from that of the mother''s might be demonstrated in the fetus as early as in the 20th fetal week. Five per cent of the children and one mother from the stored material could not be Gc grouped owing to deterioration of the serum during storage. Keywords
