Abstract
The journal-style dissertation provides a better training program than the traditional-style. Traditional dissertations accumulate unread, whereas parts of the journal-style dissertation may be published before or shortly after completion. The graduate student gains valuable experience in scientific writing, plus possibly the incentive to continue productive research. Keywords
