Abstract
The behavior of cracks under cyclic shear loading is characterized by a considerable irreversible damage of the crack faces. Therefore the response of cracks to reversed and alternative actions can only be well described if load‐history effects are taken into account. A model is presented that makes it possible to explain and predict the behavior of cracks under cyclic loading. This model reflects the actual behavior using a realistic implementation of the concrete properties. Keywords
